Website Ideas Feedback - Suggestions & Results:

I took out a survey before creating my website page to find out what my target audience thinks of my initial ideas on a 'Trivia' page. I used Monkey Survey and sent it to all my contacts to get possible suggestions and feedback on my idea.
Having got the results of my survey, I have noticed that those who like female artists are more likely to visit websites and that images played a key role in attracting fans to visit any websites.Keeping this in mind I decided to use a lot of images on whatever page I decide to create.
One thing that I discovered through my survey is that a lot of my participants liked the idea of a 'Behind The Scenes, page. This concept intrigued me and I took it further and decided to use some of the back stage images and create a page in which fans can see the making and off screen images of our artist Sonia Roy.

Chosen Song:

We finally chose the song 'The One,' by Jennifer Lopez taken from her 2002 album 'This Is Me...Then' and since it has no original video we are able to use our creative minds in deciding on the visuals.

My Song Suggestions For Our Final Music Video:

Option 1:
"Make Me Proud" - Drake ft. Nicki Minaj. 2011

Option 2:
"There Goes My Baby" - Usher. 2010

Option 3:
"Love The Way You lie (Part II)" - Rihanna ft Eminem. 2010

I chose these 3 songs because we required a song that didn't include any existing visuals or music videos and I believe these 3 songs have great tunes and are totally different from one another however all the 3 songs that I've chosen unfortunately cannot be used as they are too recent and popular and therefore when making our final product, we'd have to work around in conforming to this particular genre and at the same time our final product has to live up to the expectations of the song.

Friends & Me Lip Syncing To ''What's My Name?''

Left: Avni, Middle: Me, Right: Sonia.

This task helped me realise the importance of accurate lip syncing as those who fail to do so to perfection end up looking fake and unreal as demonstarted by myself in the centre. :P

My Favourite Music Video (=

JLo - "On The Floor...."

Why Is This My Favourite Music Video?

Firstly the music of this song is immensely addictive as the tune is very catchy and very easy to remember in fact the more you hear the song, the more it grows on you. The use of repetitive words in the chorus allows the listeners to sing along and even continue humming it forever.

The visuals used in this song are very appealing to the eyes of the target audience as it shows a very glamorous avatar of Jennifer Lopez. The clothes and the sets seem magnificent and out of this world. I think, personally, JLo still manages to look stunning even at this age and is equally as fun and youthful as today's youngsters; I guess she still has the ooomph factor!

The lyrics are parallel with the visuals to a certain extent because the lyrics are referring to the idea of partying and the visuals offers a collaboration of JLo, Pitbull and others having the time of their lives. The superb choreography goes hand in hands with the strong aggressive lyrics and beats of the songs.

Another element I like about this video is that it begins with JLo initially arriving at the venue of the party and the next minute we see the whole club dancing to her tunes. The cross cuts between her dancing and close ups of her lip-syncing provides a lot for the audience to watch and the fast edits builds up the pace of the song.

I think it is an excellent idea for the main vocalist to be part of the narrative as it shows the direct connection between the JLo as the vocalist and JLo as the performer which makes the video as pleasant to view as well as listen to.

Applying Andrew Goodwin's Theory:

Example Of An Illustrating Narrative:

The video provides a literal representation of the lyrics because the lyrics constantly repeats the word of 'whistle'  and this is clearly shown across the visuals of people whistling.

Example Of an Amplifying Narrative:

The video amplifies the chorus as it constantly show Rihanna dancing and chanting along to the lyrics whereas the rest of the video just illustrates her casual relationship.

Example Of A Contradicting Narrative:

The video can be argued to be a disjuncture because as well as the music, the lyrics are also to some extent ignored in the visuals which creates enigma and leaves the audienced confused.
